By the way, go and see Mamma Mia! If it doesn't make you come home and download a load of Abba songs then you're mental.
The Chemists
www.myspace.com/thechemistsmusic
I found this Australian grunge indie band when I was sent one of their songs, Big Wig to review. I was impressed with it straight away and it reminded me of the likes of Strokes and Weezer. This is what part of my review read;
"Well when it comes to gritty indie punk songs this has just about everything. Any reviewers who have made comments on the singers voice obviously don't know this music enough. If his voice was perfect and polished the song wouldn't have the same edge and grit to it and it would actually change the whole view of the song to me. There's a hint of Sonic Youth on the riff in the chorus and I love the huge build up near the end of the song before the solo".
Listen to Big Wig. More of the bands songs can be found here- www.numberonemusic.com/thechemists/
Without A Face
www.myspace.com/withoutaface
Without A Face used to be a 5 member band. Unfortunately they split up but the singer is carrying on the same name as a solo project. Listen to one of their old songs Pigs on this page, I personally love it. Going solo, Without A Face is now a load of nice acoustic songs, which I also really like because the singer has such an incredible voice. Listenn!

KASMs
www.myspace.com/kasms
Featuring Rory Bratwell, formally of Nu Rave founders Test Icicles, this is KASMs- a goth like indie band. With loud and in-your-face lyrics sung by Rachel Mary Callaghan, they could be described as a female fronted version of the Horrors.
Recommended: every song on the myspace!
What Would Jesus Drive?
www.myspace.com/whatwouldjesusdrive
I was put off by the name of this band before I'd heard them; I imagined an acoustic folk band and that they'd be not much different to all the rest. But it goes to show you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, I was really pleasantly surprised when I listened. They make upbeat indie pop songs and they both sing, I love bands where there's a male and female singer so they have just about everything.
Recommended: Black and Blue, Boomtown Twats, Fragile Mansions.
Fuck Dress
www.myspace.com/fuckdress
Fuck Dress are another male and female fronted band that make simple catchy indie pop songs with quirky lyrics like "God is dead so I listened to Radiohead". How could you not like that!? Unfortunately I doubt they'll get much airplay with a name like that...
Recommended: Suburban Nietzsche Freak, Isolation.
The Brownies
www.myspace.com/thebrownies
A fun band yet again woman fronted. Catchy riffs and indie drum beats, you've got to have some of the Brownies in your music library. My favourite song is Vaseline Kids which is about a girl moaning cause there isn't any naked men on her TV, ha.
Recommended: Vaseline Kids, Means To An End.
Saving Aimee
www.myspace.com/savingaimee
Saving Aimee are basically all I've played today. I heard their new song Small Talk last night and I've been hooked since. With the fast sung lyrics in the verse, the built up chorus that you just have to sing along to, a wicked guitar solo and the added synth, this is a powerpop anthem. I haven't had much time to listen to any more of their songs cause I'm too hooked on this one. And I would recommend that you sign up for their mailing list by clicking here because they'll give you Small Talk for free.
