Just a quick update

I have quite a bit to say actually.. and there will be a couple more downloads here and there aswelll.

I finally bought Bring Me The Horizon's latest album, Suicide Season not long back. I had mixed expectations about it but wanted it anyway as I'm seeing them at the end of the month on the Kerrang! Tour. Surprisingly, I absolutely love the album and I was wrong to think they've gone more commercial as some of the songs on there are heavy thrash metal, heavier than their usual songs. Highlights of the album are the powerful Diamons Aren't Forever which cleverly features lyrics from their first EP, and the short but sweet number Football Season Is Over which repeats 'party till you pass out, drink till you're dead, dance all night till you can't feel your legs', getting more intense each time. If you usually like these then you'll definitely love this, don't let Chelsea Smile put you off like it did to me haha.

If you're familiar with the 'Punk Goes...' selection of compliations that are out there, you might be glad to know they're relasing another. 'Punk Goes Crunk' is my personal favourite, with The Maine covering Akon's 'I Wanna Love You' and All Time Low covering Rihanna's very overcovered and overplayed song 'Umbrella' but doing it really well for once. The next in the series will be 'Punk Goes Pop 2'. I've just seen the songlist and now I can't wait for the release. Visit the myspace to see the songlist and get more information;

I've featured Christofer Drew, most well known as Nevershoutnever! on the blog before, he's acoustic electro and has the most amazing voice. The reason I'm featuring him again is because he has a new song up on his myspace, Trouble, which is way too good. Go and listen ;]

Bandsss...

I'm writing about these first cause if you're into pop punk you've probably heard them anyway, and also because they're my new favourite band. I know I say that in every post haha. These are one of the bands I heard ages ago, and didn't think much, but on the second listen I was just kicking myself cause they're actually amazing. It's the usual pop punk, but done to a perfect standard, and the bands taking all the spotlight like You Me At Six need to watch out cause I think these are the ones about to take their place.

I didn't know whether to put these on the blog, but now I'm just in love with one of their songs so I thought I would. These aren't great and I feel bad saying that they come across like amateurs, but it's true. Saying that, you can definitely see the potential. They make melodic pop punk, just full with emotion, and that's mostly down to the singers voice which is really reminiscent of frontman Patrick of Fall Out Boy, which should get them plenty attention.
Recommended: Falling By The Dozen.

I kinda liked these about 2 years ago, but it doesn't seem that in that time they've got much bigger, so I thought I'd tell some people about them. They're a bit different to the other bands featured here in the sense that they're a screamo band aswell as still having plenty of the pop punk aspects. I still really like the older songs and they have new songs on their myspace at the moment that include electro influences, and on a first listen they're sounding really good too.
Recommended: Dickmove, A New Fall Fashion, Mirror Mirror.

I came across these in the middle of my search for bands, and I wasn't having much luck at all. I'm really glad I found these; up tempo, catchy, repetitive (somehow in a good way) powerpop at it's best. The harmonising from the rest of the band works too well and they're one of those bands you can just imagine being great live aswell.
Recommended: Half Step Down, A Theme For Your Ego.

I was only going to do a brief feature on these for their free download, but they deserve more than that. I mentioned Nevershoutnever! earlier in the post, well this is his band. It's really weird first listening to these cause you can't imagine him making music so different to his solo work. I'd call this DIY screamo powerpunk, yeah they're really quite different. They have metal, electro, pop punk and even death metal aspects. You'll probably like these if you like Devil Wears Prada or Enter Shikari.
Recommended: The Two-Armed Man, The Point.

Little Majorette

This is something a lot different, not only from the rest of the bands on this post but on the whole blog. I'd call them female fronted indie pop.. with a twist. Sometimes they're electro, sometimes they use carnival beats, or beats that sound like they belong on an ancient video game, sometimes they're tropical, and all the time frontwoman Zoe is singing in her dreamy style that suits the music only too well; the best thing is you just don't know what they're gonna do next.
Recommended: London, Machine.

The incredible screamo pop rock band Red Jumpsuit Apparatus are back, their new album is out in February and if their new song is anything like the rest of the album, then they're taking a new direction. I really like it anyway, here's the video for You Better Pray;

The huge indie rock band Sherwood are giving away a free song over at their Absolute Punk page. It's a bit out of season now as it's actually a christmas song but just listen :] the download link has disappeared but it'll play automatically if you click here. Sorry about that :S

One last thing, if you're into R'n'B at all, then listen to Ne-Yo's new song, Mad. It's not usually my type of music but it's a catchy singalong ballad and I've had it on repeat for days. Also, if you like older music (I'm talking 70's/80's) or punk music then listen to The Rezillos and Generation X. They're both too good. Yeah I'm diverse ;]

That's it, and that was much longer than I thought it would be. Expect another post in 3-4 weeks, sorry I just don't find as much new music as I used to, but I'll try. By the way if anyone is handy with photoshop and has some free time, I wouldn't mind a nice banner that I can use to advertise the blog, and in the meantime you can just spread the word :]
